Singapore's national football team began its Asean Championship campaign with a 2-1 win against Cambodia on July 24. Ilhan Fandi scored the decisive goal with a scissor kick deep in added time at the Morodok Techo National Stadium. Shawal Anuar had given the Lions an early lead before Cambodia equalized in the 55th minute.
