Policy — Govt links solar subsidies to power generation in new PM Surya Ghar 2.0 scheme

The Indian government has revamped its rooftop solar program, with the new PM Surya Ghar 2.0 scheme linking subsidies directly to electricity generation rather than just system installation. Under the new rules, households will receive a base subsidy of up to Rs 78,000 for systems larger than 3 kW. An additional incentive of Rs 1.50 per unit generated will also be provided to residential consumers, encouraging efficient usage and maximizing output.
