BearishLegal

Data privacy complaints in Hong Kong jumped 62% year-on-year to 2,990 cases in the first half of 2026, with the technology sector being the largest source. The privacy commissioner linked the surge to the rapid collection and use of data in the AI era and greater public awareness. In contrast, doxxing-related complaints have fallen to 144 cases following the implementation of stricter laws in 2021.
