CBUAE — UAE LAUNCHES 'JAYWAN' NATIONAL PAYMENT SYSTEM TO BOOST FINANCIAL SOVEREIGNTY

The UAE has officially launched "Jaywan," its first domestic card payment system, in a strategic move to enhance its financial infrastructure and sovereignty. Inaugurated by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the system is operated by the Central Bank's subsidiary, Etihad Payments. Licensed financial institutions have commenced a phased issuance of Jaywan cards, which will be accepted across all UAE payment channels, including POS terminals and ATMs, and can be used for international transactions.
