India mandates daily LPG production targets for refiners to boost energy security

BullishEnergy

The Indian government has, for the first time, set daily maximum production targets for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for 21 individual refineries and upstream producers to create a domestic supply buffer. The August 13 order sets a combined potential output of 63,810 tonnes per day, with Reliance Industries' Jamnagar refinery assigned the largest share at 18,000 tonnes. This policy shift aims to reduce India's 64% import dependency on cooking gas, a vulnerability highlighted by the recent West Asia conflict.
