A powerful 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck Japan's southern Kumamoto prefecture, killing at least one person, injuring more than 100, and causing widespread damage. Dozens of people are feared trapped inside a collapsed shopping mall in the town of Kashima. The quake, which occurred at a shallow depth of 10 km, triggered building collapses, fires, and power outages, with authorities issuing and later lifting a tsunami warning.
