Niti Aayog report flags low foreign direct investment in India's mining sector

NeutralMining & Metals|Policy

India's mining sector has attracted minimal foreign direct investment, according to a new report from government think-tank Niti Aayog. Between 2000 and 2025, the sector received only $3.5 billion in cumulative FDI equity inflows, representing less than 0.5% of the country's total. The report calls for a coordinated policy push to improve the regulatory framework, auction predictability, and logistics to unlock the sector's geological potential.
