CAMBODIA — Cambodia vows to intensify crackdown on evolving online scam networks

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has pledged to escalate efforts against transnational online scam syndicates, which he warned are becoming more decentralized. Speaking on July 23, he noted that authorities have already shut down over 670 illegal operations and are increasing intelligence sharing with partners like the US FBI. The UN estimates such scams cost the region, including Australia and New Zealand, as much as US$114 billion in 2025.
