The Indian government accepted bids worth ₹12,604 crore in its latest buyback of government securities, falling short of the notified amount of ₹20,000 crore. The Reserve Bank of India accepted the largest quantum under the 7.33% GS 2026 paper, purchasing securities worth ₹8,960.69 crore. The buyback was aimed at managing liquidity and retiring short-dated government debt.
