Renewables — India's solar power curtailment surged in Q1 FY27, equivalent to 1.4M homes

India curtailed 8,133 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of solar power during the April-June 2026 quarter due to grid constraints and security requirements. Curtailment figures were 2,417 GWh in April, peaked at 3,235 GWh in May, and stood at 2,481 GWh in June. This lost generation highlights the growing challenge of integrating large-scale renewable energy into the national grid.
