RBI — Indian government approves RBI field trial for ₹10 and ₹20 polymer banknotes

The Reserve Bank of India has received government approval to conduct field trials for polymer-based banknotes in ₹10 and ₹20 denominations. The central bank will issue one billion pieces of each denomination to test their durability and performance. Following a successful trial, the RBI will proceed with regular issuance of the polymer notes, which are expected to have a significantly longer lifespan than traditional paper currency.
