Fed rate hike expectations for 2026 fade after July inflation data meets forecast

Traders have scaled back bets on a Federal Reserve interest rate increase this year after the latest inflation report showed price pressures easing as expected. Before the data, markets had fully priced in at least one quarter-point hike by December. Separately, Boston Fed President Susan Collins indicated she remains open to supporting a rate increase in September if warranted by incoming economic data.
