India's highway construction pace slows to 26 km/day in Apr-Jul period

BearishInfrastructure

The pace of national highway construction in India slowed in the first four months of fiscal 2027, dropping to an average of 26 km per day from 30 km per day a year earlier. A total of 3,181 km of highways were built between April and July 2026, compared to 3,656 km in the same period of 2025. The slowdown is attributed to project delays and a 56% year-on-year decline in the awarding of new projects.
