Pharma — Indian parliamentary panel demands price controls on non-scheduled drugs

BearishPharma

A parliamentary committee in India is pushing for tighter price regulation on non-scheduled drugs, which constitute 82% of the domestic pharmaceutical market by value. The panel highlighted that some drugs in this category have trade mark-ups exceeding 100% and criticized the current system, which lacks initial price fixation. It has urged the government to expedite the implementation of a Trade Margin Rationalisation (TMR) framework.
