A looming water shortage threatens to block the construction of 1.1 million new homes in Britain, according to industry body Water UK. The group has warned the government that there is only enough water supply to support 420,000 of the 1.5 million homes the Labour party has pledged to build by 2030. The deficit is blamed on a broken infrastructure planning system, unrealistic consumption targets, and unaccounted-for demand from new data centers.
