Energy|Supply Chain|Geopolitics|Trade — Oil Prices Rise As Houthi, Ukraine Attacks Threaten Red & Black Sea Chokepoints
BullishEnergy|Supply Chain|Geopolitics|Trade
Global oil supply faces dual threats as Yemen's Houthi militants began disrupting Saudi shipping in the Red Sea's Bab al-Mandeb strait and Ukrainian attacks hit Russian oil operations in the Black Sea. Two Saudi tankers rerouted Tuesday to avoid the Houthi blockade, which could impact 12% of seaborne oil, while Ukrainian strikes have affected a pipeline carrying nearly 2% of the world's oil. The combined disruptions pushed Brent crude up 2% to approximately $91 a barrel.
