ECOWAS — ECOWAS APPROVES $27B NIGERIA-MOROCCO GAS PIPELINE PROJECT TO SUPPLY EUROPE

West African leaders in the ECOWAS bloc have formally approved the landmark Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline, a strategic project estimated to cost $27 billion. The nearly 6,000-kilometer pipeline will transport Nigerian gas across 13 Atlantic coast nations to Morocco and onward to Europe, aiming to bolster regional and European energy security. According to a joint statement from Nigeria's NNPC and Morocco's ONHYM, construction is slated to begin in 2028, with first gas deliveries anticipated by 2031.
