NEE — Utilities, Data Centers Sign White House Pledge To Cover Higher AI Energy Costs

Nearly 200 entities, including major utilities like NextEra and Duke Energy and data-center developers Equinix and Digital Realty, have committed to a White House pledge to absorb the higher electricity costs of AI operations. The "ratepayer-protection pledge" aims to prevent the AI boom from increasing consumer energy bills. The initiative, which the administration says covers 80% of U.S. power delivery, is a response to growing political pressure and proposed moratoriums on new data center construction.
