Southern California Edison equipment blamed for deadly 2025 Eaton Fire

An investigation by Los Angeles County fire officials has concluded that equipment owned by Southern California Edison caused the 2025 Eaton Fire. The blaze, which resulted from electrical arcing on an idle transmission tower, killed 19 people and destroyed over 9,400 structures. The utility had previously indicated its equipment might have been involved after detecting a fault on a transmission line when the fire started.
